Sex Trafficking and the Foster Care System

Who do children and teenagers look to for protection? For friendship? For love and support? For discipline? While most would say parents, sometimes it’s other impactful people in their lives like friends, grandparents, aunts and uncles, significant others, caregivers, or even teachers. These significant people are who children and teenagers turn to in times of need. But what if a child or teenager is in the foster care system? Who would they turn to then? Unfortunately, for those who are in the foster care system, the story is much different.

Distracted Trucking Driver Accident Settlement

Our client, a 24-year-old young woman, was traveling northbound on Highway 281 when a tractor-trailer driven by a distracted driver drove through an intersection with the highway without stopping or yielding. This lack of caution, unfortunately, resulted in the tragic death of a young woman who had a bright future ahead of her.

Attorneys Shalimar Wallis and Kelsey Abbey along with their team came to the aid of the client’s family to help them achieve justice in a situation that should never have happened. Their unrelenting tactics resulted in the case settling and although that does not replace the life that was lost, it helped hold the proper party accountable for this tragic occurrence.

We are proud and thankful to have an unwavering team that arises to any challenge in the pursuit of justice and steps in immediately when justice needs to be delivered. Great job, team!

$2 Million Workplace Accident Settlement

While working in a closet, our client stepped on a piece of foam that was covering a hole in the top floor causing him to fall through to the bottom story. The previous crew that was working in the closet had removed an A/C return unit and failed to properly provide a warning about the hole in the floor. In fact, all they did was cover it with that piece of foam which gave off the impression there was not a hole in the floor.

Our attorneys Jorge Mares, Ana Diaz, and Oscar Quiroz along with their team helped our client obtain the justice they deserved after they sustained life-altering injuries to their head, neck, back, shoulder, and elbows. Our team helped prove that the previous crew was negligent in their actions and in doing so, created a dangerous condition for our client. At the end of the day, the defense had only one choice but to settle and award our client the entire $2,000,000.00 that their client had. We are so happy that we could be there for our client and help him after such an unfortunate, but preventable, incident. Great job, team!

Truck Driver Auto Accident Settlement

Sleep deprivation can be extremely dangerous. If you get behind the wheel while sleep deprived, it can cause serious damage to not just yourself, but others on the road around you. If someone is sleep deprived, they can experience lack of focus and slower reaction time. They can even doze off if they are not doing something active to keep them alert.

Our client was the first victim in the path of destruction left behind by a sleep deprived truck driver. The truck driver barreled through six nearly stopped vehicles at full speed. The truck driver never applied his brakes before violently crashing into our client. We later discovered that the truck driver was driving on little to no sleep as a result of being verbally reprimanded previously for taking too long of a sleep break in the days leading up to the crash. On top of it all, the defendant driver was severely underinsured for the magnitude of destruction.

Our attorneys stepped up to help make sure that the lack of insurance by the defendant would not impact our client’s justice. Attorneys Jennifer Neal, Caleb Rackley, Cesar Perez, Chloe Shrode, and Illiana Parker, along with their team, did everything they could to hold the defendant accountable. After a hard-fought battle, they ensured our client received a settlement to help assist in their road to recovery.

The team was not afraid of a challenge and rose to the occasion in order to help someone in need. Great job everyone!
