Failure to Yield Trucking Accident Settlement

Trucking Accident Settlement
Neglecting to maintain 18-wheelers and train drivers can have catastrophic results. While traveling up a hill, an 18-wheeler driver lost power to his tractor-trailer. Rather than pulling over, the driver decided to reverse his vehicle down a hill. To make matters worse, the driver backed his trailer in such a way that it blocked the oncoming lane of traffic. Our client was a passenger in another tractor-trailer that crested the hill and could not avoid colliding with the trailer obstructing their lane of travel. The resulting high-impact crash caused our client significant, debilitating injuries.
Through our team’s dedication, it was uncovered that both the tractor and trailer were in violation of safety standards, and the brakes on both were not properly maintained. Additionally, the defendant driver’s employer had not properly trained the driver on emergency maneuvers when power and brakes fail.

Our client, a 24-year-old young woman, was traveling northbound on Highway 281 when a tractor-trailer driven by a distracted driver drove through an intersection with the highway without stopping or yielding.
