$1,700,000 Workplace Accident Settlement
Safety Rules are set in place to help prevent injuries on a worksite for all those who enter the property. In our recent settlement, the general contractor had two sets of rules – one for his employees and a less strict version for his subcontractors. Our client was a subcontractor who unfortunately fell to his death in a preventable accident. If a harness had been required as it was for the employees of the General Contractor, he would not have fallen. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
Attorneys Shalimar Wallis, Mike Murray, and Chloe Shrode wasted no time in their pursuit of justice for our client. They made sure that the case was built on a firm foundation of facts that supported the wrongdoings of the General Contractor. During the course of their diligence, they learned this General Contractor had been cited on four other occasions for their failure to require harnesses on the job site by the company’s own safety consultant. These inspection reports were the smoking gun, forcing a settlement thereafter.
Shalimar and the rest of our attorneys make it their mission to ensure that companies promulgate adequate safety standards for all workers. Her career is centered around holding large companies accountable for their actions which result in harm to employees they view as just a “number.” She shapes her practice around making sure that clients know they are more than just a “number”. Shalimar and her team will fight to protect families so that others don’t lose their lives because of the inadequacies of corporations. Keep fighting the good fight, team!

While working in a closet, our client stepped on a piece of foam that was covering a hole in the top floor causing him to fall through to the bottom story. The previous crew that was working in the closet had removed an A/C return unit and failed to properly provide a warning about the hole in the floor. In fact, all they did was cover it with that piece of foam which gave off the impression there was not a hole in the floor.
Our attorneys Jorge Mares, Ana Diaz, and Oscar Quiroz along with their team helped our client obtain the justice they deserved after they sustained life-altering injuries to their head, neck, back, shoulder, and elbows. Our team helped prove that the previous crew was negligent in their actions and in doing so, created a dangerous condition for our client. At the end of the day, the defense had only one choice but to settle and award our client the entire $2,000,000.00 that their client had. We are so happy that we could be there for our client and help him after such an unfortunate, but preventable, incident. Great job, team!

Our firm makes it our mission to make sure justice is served by holding guilty parties accountable. When our attorneys Mark Fassold and Bailey VanNatta were given the opportunity to help a client who was killed by her ex-boyfriend, they worked endlessly to ensure that justice would be delivered.
Mark, Bailey, along with their team tirelessly worked on this case to obtain justice for $3.34 million our client. Through all of the controversy that surrounded the case, the team was able to obtain an arbitration award for the surviving family. Although it can never replace the person who was lost, we are proud of our team for not letting an employer’s poor actions go unpunished. Keep fighting the good fight, team! Below is the award.
