Sommer Montler, a native of San Antonio, Texas, graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice. Upon graduation, Sommer was drawn to the legal field with its propensity to help others and decided to begin her career as a paralegal for a personal injury firm. During her time as a paralegal, her passion developed in advocating for injured clients which led her to the decision to obtain a law degree.

In 2020 Sommer began school at St. Mary’s University School of Law. During her time there she involved herself extensively in extracurricular and academic pursuits. In addition to holding officer positions with several student organizations, Sommer served as President of the St. Mary’s Black Law Students Association where she advocated for greater educational resources for underrepresented students. In honor of her commitment to the St. Mary’s student body and the advancement of underrepresented lawyers, Sommer was recognized by the San Antonio Black Lawyers Association as an outstanding law student.
In addition to acting as a student leader, Sommer was selected to join the National Alternative Dispute Resolution Team and the National Organizational Moot Court Team, where she attained several regional and semi-finalist rankings as well as one second place finish across various negotiations and moot court competitions. Near the end of her time as a National Team Member, Sommer was admitted as a National Member of the Order of Barristers in recognition of her exceptional advocacy skills.
Alongside her academic pursuits, Sommer received valuable business litigation experience as an intern with a Fortune 500 company before beginning her internship with Watts Guerra in 2022.
Sommer joined Guerra LLP as an Associate Attorney in 2023 where she specializes in Civil Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Personal Injury, Product Liability, and Mass Tort cases. In her free time she enjoys painting, hiking and spending time with her nieces.
