We are proud to highlight four outstanding attorneys from Guerra LLP who have been recognized by The National Trial Lawyers as Top 40 Under 40 recipients. This prestigious honor recognizes exceptional young trial lawyers who demonstrate superior legal skill, leadership, and dedication to client advocacy. Each of these attorneys exemplifies the firm’s commitment to excellence in the courtroom and to achieving meaningful results for those they represent.
Bailey VanNatta is an associate attorney at Guerra LLP who focuses on litigation and trial work. A native of Fort Worth, Texas, she earned her B.A. in History with a minor in Legal Reasoning and Analysis from Baylor University in 2018 and her J.D. from Baylor Law School in 2022, having also been deeply involved in moot court, legal societies, and extensive pro bono work during law school. Bailey joined the firm as a law clerk before becoming an attorney and is admitted to practice in multiple states, including Texas, Illinois, New Mexico, and Arizona, and in several federal courts, demonstrating a strong commitment to client advocacy and public service.
Katie Quillen is an associate attorney at Guerra LLP, where she focuses on trial and litigation work. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Baylor Law School in 2022 after graduating magna cum laude from Morehead State University in 2019. Following law school, she clerked for a federal judge in Waco, Texas. Licensed in Texas and New Mexico, she remains active in the legal community through leadership and coaching roles.
Julie Matsen is an associate attorney at Guerra LLP who specializes in litigation and trial advocacy. She graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in English from Arizona State University and went on to earn her J.D. from Baylor Law School, where she participated in advocacy training and multiple legal tracks. Before joining Guerra LLP, she gained experience as a legal assistant in the Texas Attorney General’s Office and clerked for both a judge and the firm. Julie is licensed in both Texas and Arizona and is active in professional legal organizations, balancing her legal practice with travel and time with family and her cats.
Jessica Peisen is an associate attorney at Guerra LLP who focuses her practice on civil and commercial litigation, personal injury, and mass tort cases. A South Texas native from the Rio Grande Valley, she earned her B.A. in Political Science and Sociology, cum laude, from Texas Tech University and went on to obtain her J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law. Jessica’s motivation to become an attorney was shaped by a personal tragedy early in life, and that experience drives her dedication to holding corporations accountable and vigorously representing her clients. She is active professionally, serving on the board of the San Antonio Trial Lawyers Association and participating in other legal organizations.
The National Trial Lawyers is dedicated to promoting excellence and diversity in the legal field, and these four attorneys represent exactly that. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!
