Can I sue my doctor for medical malpractice even if I have a lawsuit against the manufacturer of a certain drug?

Yes.  Typically, when an injured person discovers his or her injury (which may be months or years after the event that caused the injury), he or she will not know definitively what caused the injury.  In those instances, it is often necessary for the injured person to sue his or her doctor and the manufacturer of a drug or medical device that is believed to have caused the injury.  In fact, in these types of cases, it is common for the doctor to blame drug or medical device manufacturers.  Likewise, it is common for the manufacturers to blame the doctor.

That being said, you should consult with your attorney about the decision to sue your doctor.  The decision affects numerous aspects related to the litigation including burdens of proof, location of the lawsuit, expenses related to expert witnesses and many more.
